We built Lurra so families aren't left guessing

When someone dies or becomes seriously ill, their family inherits a search problem on top of a loss. Where is the will? Which bank held the accounts? Who was the insurance agent? What did they actually want? Lurra exists so those answers are already written down.

The problem we kept seeing

The information a family needs is rarely missing — it is scattered. Some of it is in a filing cabinet, some in an email archive, some in one person's memory. None of it is written down in one place, and no one realizes that until the moment it matters.

What follows is predictable. Families spend six to eighteen months settling an estate, and a large share of that time goes to reconstructing information that someone already knew. Accounts get missed. Policies go unclaimed. Wishes that were never recorded turn into arguments between people who are already exhausted.

It is an entirely solvable problem. It just requires doing the work before it is urgent — which is exactly the kind of work that never makes it to the top of anyone's list.

What Lurra does

Lurra is a secure place to store your family's documents, accounts, and plans — and, just as importantly, to make them reachable by the right people at the right time.

• •A document vault that reads what you upload. Upload a policy or a deed and Lurra pulls out the details that matter, so you can ask a question later and get an actual answer.
• •A guided life plan. Fifty-two topics covering the information your family will need, structured so you are never staring at a blank page.
• •Special Instructions. A tamper-evident record of your wishes and practical guidance. Once triggered, it can never be altered — not by a family member, not by anyone with database access, not by us.
• •Family access you control. Decide who sees what, and what stays private until it is needed.
• •Local professionals when you need them. Attorneys, agents, and advisors in your area, surfaced at the moments they are actually useful.

What we believe

How we protect what you store

The most sensitive values you save — vault passwords, phone unlock codes — are encrypted with a key that never touches our database, so database access alone cannot reveal them. Access to your account requires a password, with optional two-factor authentication. Every connection is encrypted in transit, and backups run nightly.

Special Instructions goes further. Every save is permanently recorded and cryptographically chained to the one before it, so any alteration is detectable — including alterations made directly in the database. You can verify that chain yourself from inside the app at any time.

Who we are

Lurra is built by a small team in the United States. We came to this problem the way most people do — by watching families we know navigate a loss without a map, and realizing how much of the difficulty was avoidable.

We are not attorneys, and Lurra does not give legal advice. What we do is make sure that when your family needs to know something, the answer is already there.
